My top recipe for today is….

Valentines Chocolate Fantasy Torte.

50 shades of grey will be dismissed if you try this torte.

This torte says, born for food porn.

So, let’s do it.

Shopping Time

  • flour, baking soda, salt
  • chocolate, water, cocoa
  • brown sugar, white sugar, butter, eggs
  • yogurt, vanilla extract
  • white chocolate, whip cream, blueberries
  • Nutella, cheese

Equipment

-Mixer

-baking sheet 13×18

-bowls

Line a 13×18 baking sheet with an aluminum foil.

Valentines Chocolate Fantasy Torte

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

4 large eggs (room temperature)

1/2 cup yogurt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups flour (AP)

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups boiling water

4 oz semisweet chocolate (chopped)

1/4 cup cocoa

Nutella Filling

2 cups Nutella

8 oz cheese

1 cup whip cream

Blueberry white chocolate filling

3/4 cup heavy cream

2 and 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

3/4 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

In a bowl #1 mix 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda and salt.

Using bowl #2 combine the following:

1 1/2 cup boiling water, 1/4 cocoa and 4 oz chopped chocolate.

Mix all ingredients until chocolate is melted.

Set aside to cool.

Beat 1 cup butter and both sugars until light. (about 5 min.)

Add 4 eggs (one at a time) and beat well after each addition.

Then add 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 tsp vanilla extract.

Mix it.

Alternate adding the flour mixture with chocolate mixture.

(3 addition flour, 2 addition chocolate or flour+chocolate+flour+chocolate+flour)

Be sure all ingredients are incorporated.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet.

Bake from 20 to 25 minutes and 325 F.

Cool it.

When you are ready to assembly the torte, cut into 3 equal pieces. (width = 4 inch)

The size is 4 x 13 for each layer. (the rest of the cake you can eat)

Nutella Filling

In a bowl mix 8 oz of cheese (Philadelphia).

Add 2 cups Nutella and mix again.

In another bowl mix whip cream.

Add whipped cream into cheese/Nutella mixture and mix until incorporated. (don’t over mix)

Keep in the fridge.

Blueberry white chocolate filling

Wash blueberries with a mixture of 3 parts water and 1 part white vinegar.

Rinse under cool water and dry.

Now find your food processor.  I hope you have it.

Add 3/4 cup of blueberries into a food processor.

Process until smooth, about 1 minute.

Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl.

Set aside.

Add white chocolate chips into 4 cup measuring glass (or bowl).

Boil 3/4 cup heavy cream in a small saucepan.

Pour over white chocolate chips.

Leave it for 5 minutes. (don’t mix)

After 5 minutes, using a hand mixer mix white chocolate and cream.

The mixture should be smooth.

Cool it. (about 1 hour)

When you have your white chocolate mixture cooled add blueberry juice.

Mix using a spatula or wooden spoon.

Keep in the fridge until ready to be used.

Assembly

Layer 1 + Nutella Frosting

…#69….See, for me this door is just the door that I use as a background to take the pictures. Yes, I use it for my cakes.

What did you think people? I mean, really? Did you think I will start writing 50 shades of grey or darker … just for you?

And maybe I will … one day…but not today.

Today, I want to say we have only 2 days until my favorite day, February 14!

The Valentine’s Day!

Day of love and chocolate. So, dear my reader let’s bake for this special day.

The cake I selected to bake is called

The Nutella Chocolate Love Cake!

This cake is really easy to make. You will need the following:

3 cups AP flour

1 tsp salt

1 TBSP baking powder (no Al)

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

3/4 cup soybean oil

1 1/4 cup milk (2%)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. Butter aluminum sheet pan (12inch by 17 inch) and line with parchment paper.

Mix 4 eggs, 2 cups sugar and 1 TBSP vanilla for about 7 min. until thick and double in volume.

Add oil. Keep mixing.

At very low speed, add mix of flour (3 cups flour, 1tsp salt and 1TBSP baking powder) alternately with the milk until the batter is smooth.

Bake for about 20 min or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Set aside to cool.

Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out cakes.

Assembly:

You will assembly two heart cakes together.

This is how:

Spread 1 tsp of raspberry jam + 1 tsp Nutella on one cake.

Spread 1 tsp of raspberry jam on the second cake.

Connect them together. Press gently to secure.

Repeat with the remaining cakes.

Icing:

2 cups chocolate

1 tsp oil

Melt chocolate and oil together in a small bowl over a pan of simmering water making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water,

then leave to cool.

Spread the chocolate over the top of the cakes. Allow to set.

Decorate with chocolate, icing sugar or just use your imagination. After all you can have all sort of ideas in front of 69 garage door.
