Chocolate Cookies with Sour Cherries and Martha Stewart

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups AP flour
  • 1 1/4 cups unsweetened Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups dried sour cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a bowl, sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  3. Cream the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until well combined.
  5. Add the flour mixture and using very low speed mix until combined.
  6. Using a wooden spoon, fold in chocolates and cherries.
  7. Form balls of dough (1/4 cup), place them on baking sheet and bake from 9 to 11 min.
  8. Transfer to wire rack to cool them.
  9. Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days.
